Aside simple brushing and flossing, there are plenty of ways to show your teeth some love on Valentine’s Day.

Keep your breath fresh

Bad breath is one of dating’s cardinal sins. To avoid burning your partner’s eyes from across the dinner table, drink plenty of water throughout the day and chew some minty, sugar-free gum, which stimulates the flow of saliva, neutralizing acids and washing away food particles.

A healthy, well-balanced diet is also key in keeping your breath fresh, and an antimicrobial, non-alcoholic mouthwash couldn’t hurt!

Keep your toothbrush clean

Even if you happen to be in a loving relationship, it doesn’t mean your toothbrushes should be as well. If you share a bathroom with your partner, store your toothbrushes upright and make sure they aren’t touching each other to avoid cross-contamination.

Don’t forget to replace your toothbrush every three months to avoid bacteria buildup!

Choose your chocolate wisely

If you’re looking forward to indulging in sweets, chocolate is your best bet, because it tends to wash off the teeth very easily compared to other types of candy, like jujubes or lollipops.

In fact, eating dark chocolate in moderation can even benefit your teeth by producing antioxidants that stifle the formation of plaque.

BONUS! One last tip for all the smokers in the house

Stop it.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
