As directed by public health authorities, the office of the Minister of Health and Social Services, the Ordre des dentistes du Québec and the Ordre des hygiénistes dentaires du Québec:

To ensure the safety of our patients and employees, Pur Dental Center will remain closed until May 1st. Because COVID-19 continues to impact communities all over the world, our priority is to minimize the spread of the disease in any way we can.

In the case of a dental emergency, email us at smiles@pur.ca. Patients who are currently undergoing Invisalign treatment can email us as well so that we can schedule a follow-up appointment.

Aside from thorough hand-washing and other basic hygienic measures, one of the best ways to protect yourself and others from the coronavirus is social distancing.

What Is Social Distancing?

Social distancing is the practice of maintaining physical separation from other people. Large gatherings are known to speed up the spread of the coronavirus, which can not only get many people sick, but also overwhelm hospitals and cause other societal disruptions.

According to canada.ca, here are some key social distancing measures:

  • avoiding crowded places and non-essential gatherings
  • avoiding common greetings, such as handshakes
  • limiting contact with people at higher risk (e.g. older adults and those in poor health)
  • keeping a distance of approximately 2 metres from others, as much as possible

The best way to practice social distancing is to remain at home as often as possible. We know that staying cooped up too long can get a little boring, but there are definitely ways to make the most of your time.

Stay Entertained

Self-quarantining can be relatively bearable in the age of streaming, so binge your favorite shows to take your mind off things! You can also catch up on some books you’ve been meaning to read or get lost in a video game.

Keep Socializing

Even if you’re unable to see your friends in person, there are still ways to hang out! Aside from texts and phone calls, get some virtual face time with loved ones through Zoom, Skype, or your app of choice. Lots of people have even been setting up virtual Netflix viewing parties!

Create a Routine

When self-quarantining, creating a routine and finding tasks to break up your day are great ways to keep a sense of normalcy. Even grabbing a shower and changing out of your pajamas can snap you into a more productive mindset!

If you’re working from home, set up a designated work area to get yourself into the right headspace while still maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

We’ll have more self-quarantine tips later this week, so stay tuned!
